So I was just talking to a tattoo studio – and pleasantly happy that this was a place that custom designs and doens’t promote flash art … and the guy I was talking to gave me a tip. I wanted to know what you all thought.

The artists there also sell their original art, gallery style, in the studio. And this guy said that the best way to get into learning how to tattoo is by creating work using acrylic ink on watercolor paper. He said that the methods it takes (the layers, use of color vs the black ink and the order of their use) was the closest to how its achieved with the machine.

What mediums have you all used, and do you know about acrylic ink?

I have heard this actually, and picked up watercolor before doing tattoos.

Its actually really good practice and is probably the closest medium to actual tattooing. The way the colors blend is very similar
