I love what you did, to show her that foreigners are not all what she says … she is p laying on the insecurity of people who have no knowledge…. Good Job, man. Good Job. Bob Tyrell – fantastic artist.

I saw this school on the net and the only thing that I liked was the “availability of information” that an aspiring artist is looking for. What I do NOT LIKE – and this is more important – is that they are “certified” in such a short time.

There are conflicts here. Serious artists who want to learn the right way are faced with a thousand road blocks which is what makes “schools” enticing …. there is information you can’t get from books (depending on the way you learn)…. but the time line is too short and there isn’t enough experience on other areas of HIGH importance: i.e. running, working, and cleaning a shop.

There are other places that provide rotations of apprenticeships that apply the same knowledge and learning experience as you find at apprenticeships but they are called “schools” because of state regulations. Some places have to be called schools to get their licenses and certificate to teach …. it differs by location. There is an apprenticeship opportunity in Dallas, TX that takes only serious artists (you have to submit a portfolio) and they work with you for 6-12 months on their tattoo shop to get the requirements you need to be a tattoo artist. This “school” is serious, it is not like that TV show. Although there are bad schools out there (more about making money than teaching discipline) does not mean that EVERY school is a bad one.

ok – A&D is easy enough to get a hold of (we use it on babies too)… and 45* sounds better. ;-) I have a timeline, and can’t really get started until after this baby is old enough I am not feeding every 2 hours …. *sigh* where do I get my basics covered in time for my husband to retire and me to earn the money? If an apprenticeship is so hard to get (and I am having a hard time getting just talking time with these artists HERE) what else do I do?

Thanks for the info – it already has given me some information. I looked at the punctures and I didn’t see cuts, could barely see the dots – had no idea what to really look for. I will apply the vaseline to get that surface I can clean with and see if that helps.

The angle you said is interesting. The DVD guy – used a 45* angle, a few places I searched viewed said to use a 45* angle, but I found it easier to apply at a 90* angle. I’ve also been told that these things vary from artist to artist. ……

ON another note: I found this – http://torontotattooschool.ca/
      And this – http://www.tattoosbylisa.net/home.html

for a 2 week tattoo course, basics. What I like about this idea is the instant answering of my questions !! hahahaah….

As I practiced today, I could feel it in my heart that I want to do this MORE than I did before.

The guys pretty much covered it with the first two. The girl in the sailor hat is wonderfully done, but seems to have lost her emotion from the pencil to the pen. Instead of lining all of her facial features, only do some of them… especially the lips. The first drawing made her look as if her top teeth were showing, which I thought was very effective! Try lining only the inside of the mouth, and just the outer 2/3-3/4 of the eyes (maybe add a few tiny eyelashes?). And try not to extend the pupil all the way to the corner of the eye. You are making excellent progress with these!!! :D

Many Thanks!!!! This is good suggestion. It was off a guide, not my original idea – the eyes in the guide were completely in the corners to “look at you” I guess.

You are getting better an better at those pinups :D I really like this one :D

3.000$ for a full back  (Jaws just dropped……… ANd I mean totally dropped :o           ) I NEED to get a tattoo from America… I mean, all that money I save can be used for first class, five star hotels, if I fly to America and get tattoed.

Its considered CHEAP if you pay 8.000$ for a full back piece….. And then you should be prepared for work thats five steps below Mr. Shane O-Neil…..

MAN  (I will need to spend 1.300$ on a flight to New York included 4 nights at a hotel. And then 3.000 for a small/medium backpiece tattoo done by Shane O-Neil, And then I will still have 3.700 of pocket money……… )

It was per session, sorry. My piece wasn’t entirely a full back that I wanted, more like 3/4 since I have tattoos on the shoulder blades already. But yeah – its an hourly rate, so it all depends on the tattoo itself, what the guy can manage with the time But seeing his work is OUTSTANDING…. yeah …. No, I got another quote from a non-famous artist for $800 on the same piece. But right now I am still searching for an artist on that piece and will get another quote from the artist I locally admire, next year. I’m having him do a smaller one first – to see how he is. …. I’ll let you know!!

Come fly over to me and we will go get tattooed together!! Hahahah!!

This is the same picture, I used a finer pen to outline only what I would theoretically outline for a stencil… then used colored pencil very carefully.

Did the pen F— up the face again?

You mean from Shane O-Neil….?? YEAH – THAT is who I look up to, I’m telling you. He works in New Jersey and I nearly had an appointment to get a tattoo from him – only, I got pregnant and couldn’t afford it anyway. A full back was going to cost around $3000.00…..

So far this is the black and white sketch, how they have al been starting. But I wanted to show this stage. I may just add some contrast and “pop” color instead of re-doing what I’ve done…. being that this is better than the other two… but here you go. The traditional pin up.
