      Thank you :D

I thought the liner was suppose to go faster, i think it was the training video i got with the kit that said otherwise. Or i have been taking in so much info i just got confused.. I’ll have to check :)

I got the mini rotary kit from hildbrandt one is “set up” as a liner and one as a shader. there is a noticeable sound difference from one to the other. The liner is much louder than the shader, but still less than half the racket as my coil.

I have also noticed that when i take my foot off the pedal that the needle may or may not be still sticking out of the tube. I mentioned this to my BF and he said that the motor stops where it stops when the power is cut off..This may just be the way it is *shrug

I have a few issues with them.. The first was that i had to sand out the tube vice because the tubes couldn’t actually fit in the hole. Thats ok now. The stroke is soooo long.. i’ve tried setting the tube/needle flush, less than flush but when i step on the pedal it comes flying out like half a centimeter. ( this could help explain some of my mangled melons ;) )

The other thing is i can’t seem to figure out what V to run them at. From all that i’ve come across so far, the liner should be lower than the shader. If i go any lower than 8 the thing just won’t go.. it ticks but doesn’t seem to have the power to complete the revolution.
IF i feather the pedal like you would if your car was starting to stall on you, i can get it going eventually on the lower setting..

For lining i found the machine to be too light to use the disposable tubes, i put a metal assembly with my squish grip and it then turned into awesome.

Ive been getting tattooed for 6 years, and been tattooing for three, and I’ve never had an issue with ink or anything during any of my tattoos. Probably putting way to much on, or putting it on too early. I always let my tattoos air dry for at LEAST one hour before applying my after care product. This way I am not locking in any of the water my skin may have absorbed during cleaning.

      6 whole yrs ;)
      j/k

My idea is that common sense isn’t common and most people can’t follow instructions
I dare say a lot of ppl put too much. I try to stick to the easiest / less hassle way of doing it that will also produce great results.
I’ve done training in various different subjects.. dumbing it down is generally the best way to get a consistent result.

      wash/blot/lotion .. don’t touch it …wash/blot/lotion lather rinse repeat

Wash/let air dry for an hour/apply ointment but not too much (how much is too much/too little)
also if not covered, dirt and dust and what not is more likely to stick to the ointment.. and you know when you tell them not to touch it, at all, let alone with dirty hands.. They are going to touch it, someone is going to smack it cause it’s funny adding more stuff stuck to it and then they are going to apply more, rubbing it all into the tattoo.

When you figure out your own way of healing tattoos that works well for you.. that is awesome. Everyone is different, so for the general public. KISS is the best way ;)

I’ve found that the ointments have a nasty habit of sucking ink out.
For example i used to use those, i would apply some and use a paper towel to blot the excess. i had the imprint of the tattoo on the paper towel, it’s like it would keep it open to ooze longer.
Vitamin E ointment was a big goto around here for a long time. the drug stores got wise to this and started labeling stuff for tattoo use.
A lot of ppl ended up being allergic to it, getting blotchy and little red bumps around the tattoo.

When i switched to the wash hands, wash tattoo, blot, apply lotion i “might” get some transfer that first time, but that’s it.

PS if the paper towel sticks to the tattoo while blotting, you didn’t wash it good enuf.. back to the sink ;)

I have found that washing the tattoo thoroughly with antibacterial dishsoap and making sure all of that slimyness of the plasma is gone.
Gently pat it dry with new clean papertowel and applying non scented, non alcohol ,moisturizing lotion to be the best i have found so far for keeping color, and avoiding scabs.

Once it starts getting that shiny slimy tight feel/look ^^repeat
If there is no plasma / blood on the skin, there is nothing to scab

      Thanks for the input shaggy

The feather i know is a complete shit show. I had a power supply, but it all of the sudden wouldn’t work, so i plugged into one that my bf uses to charge his RC batteries.. so it was straight 12v the whole time lol
The whole first melon was done with that set up using a cheap coil

The second melon is done with my new power supply and the rotaries. I think that i had the voltage up too high when i was doing the lining, which is probably why i felt like i had to move my hand faster not to chew things up.
I actually got some of the thin thin skin, i was trying to figure out how to use it lol i need to put it on something and try not to bash the needles.. i suppose i can hold it on a melon :)

I tried a mag too just to see, as i know it can chew fast.. holy heck.

Oh here is a question that is probably answered somewhere else..
draw lines by pushing the machine so that the needles press against the bottom of the tube, or pull back?

I’m actually quite well versed in most things tattoo, right down to making needles. The actual tattooing part is where i haven’t really delved into much.
I have a laundry list of skins waiting to go and would probably let me go right now. But that is not me, they are my friends and although i couldn’t possibly do much worse than what is already there, i want them to get something good.

PS, Vaseline also eats breaks down the gloves Just like a condom, so it’s best to stay away from it for the actual tattoo part.

Here is some of the drawings i have posted in my FB, nothing recent tho. I suck at being the “let’s post everything” person

You can also see some of my other body art stuff if you want @
      http://www.facebook.com/maguscoriumbodyart

Some of the lines i was doing look pretty decent.. i think.. then others not so much
What i was doing was coming at them from different angles, i am stronger in some than others.
When i am drawing i can turn the paper, when i am body painting i can move into all sorts of contorted directions to get what i want.
      Tattooing, not so much.

So i figure i should suffer through a pile o bad lines to strengthen those angles

And i’m back.. been working hard on my body art business. We have added Facepainting, Body painting, and a list of other stuff.
I had this little ebay kit or something kicking around and was playing around with it. i hadn’t touched it in a while so the top rubber o ring thing was just about dust.. womp womp.. I was getting pin striping stuff for xmas, but the placed messed up the order and the BF was like ..”pinstriping stuff or TATTOO stuff?” .. well then.

So i got the mini rotary kit from Hildbrant, my other machine was a coil so i figured i’d give it a try .. they have arrived..
I will post my thoughts in the appropriate sections

This is an example of why i think that it is difficult to get apprenticeships..
I have worked in tattoo shops as general “get shit done person”, not as a tattoo artist.. but this is more the kind of thing i have seen.

I have yet to actually see with my own eyes, someone cough up money, go in and get taught..
I get that you have to be the shop bitch as far as cleaning goes and doing up flash and stencils and whatnot.. that teaches you how to do it, and time needs to be spent on these things.
But just because it took 7 years for joe whoever tattoo guy to either get some other asshole to show him the ropes or figure it out on his own. doesn’t mean that is how it “has” to be done.

I’ve seen it too many times and it’s infuriating.. trying to follow this path myself after seeing these things makes me hesitant.. cause i’m likely the type to tell them to go fuck themselves too ;)

There are other and better ways to learn a skill than being berated and belittled on a daily basis.
It’s not good by any stretch, but it is more acceptable in your late teens/ early 20’s , when you don’t have a career and a family and whatever other obligations you have..
Artists are artists, a tattoo machine is simply another tool to learn and skin is a different medium..

Can you imagine every time you tried to take a drawing class, you’d have to wear a dunce cap and be called a shit brick before being allowed to even pick up a pencil..

I just saw a post on another forum that I belong to, some guy was asking where to dispose of his sharps container, one of the answers was this:

“Probably illegal – but I wondered if you could get rid through a diabetic? Not sure if type 1’s are provided with disposable bin? Will ask my sis in law as she will know.

Otherwise my husband suggested putting them in a tin and chucking in the metal skip at local tip?????
Prob a bit dodgy – but the metal just gets weighed in for recycling? Am I being a bit dim about this? ” !!!!!!

      O_o

I would think that this is something that would be highly researched into at the medical waste level before even coming close to a person with a needle. (oops sorry sanitation worker, didn’t mean to give you the aids there)

Everything i have found and been told by the powers that be has been the hospitals is the easiest way.
