I would also like to note that the best artists in the world will
always say that they cannot really teach you to tattoo, it is too
much an art. However, I notice the worst artists in the world will
guard their secrets till the end, expressing a fear that a newbie
might injure his or her peers (this is code for “My shop is not that
busy or I’m not that good and I don’t need anymore competition”).
Let me say this now…There is this enormous technical
aspect involved that is actually pretty basic, but even the technical
aspect has such a wide spectrum to it that it is an art form in
itself. Even the machine building and tuning is an art form and
ultimately lies in the category of personal preference. So even
with all the tricks and secrets there is no substitution for patience
and experience.
