hildebrant kits are pretty cheap. I’ve got no issues with em, look up hildebrant kits on ebay and then narrow your search to canadian sellers. Theres a guy in richmond, bc that has em.

I cant believe that your local hospital wont take em, that’s messed up. check your local tattoo shop to see what they do with em if thats the case. Up here in canada every hospital is required to take em. I’ve heard that you can fill the container with bleach and leave it and that makes em sterile enough to toss away but I’m not sure if I would trust that. Think about the guy at your local landfill… you think he wants to find your bio hazardous sharps while he’s walking through the trash?

Buy from a canadian distributor if you are looking for something that comes with decent ink.
There is a guy in vancouver, BC that has the hildebrant kits. I payed 150ish for 2 rotary machines with power supply and ink and both types of handles, metal and plastic pre sterilized. bunch of inks and other rubber parts required.

I also got a kit with 4 guns from the states and the guns were running at almost 14v from the power supply. bent the front spring abit and they are running at a steady 7.5v now. they also came with 5 bottles of budda greywash ink.

seriously is this site not called teachmetotattoo.com or was it screweverythingdontbotheruntilyourinanapprenticeship.com?

He’s right about getting a kit however, depending on your budget and what you want in terms of quality your best off to either piece together a kit yourself or get something crappy (like I did) and only use it for practising on fruit and then upgrade when you learn what your really doing… insert apprenticeship here.

yes well unfortunately I have a family with 4 kids and cant afford to volunteer my time at the cost of feeding my kids, beyond that where I live has no artist either. I’m 31 not some kid fresh outta highschool with nothing but time to devote to the art

but I’m also a piercier and know I’m good with my hands. If better equipment is required I’ll take care of that in time as I order parts for my machines. Humans are quite capable of learning and in time I’ll go see my mentors but until then it’s what I can type and explain and get responses that will make the difference for me. I dont intend to put ink to skin for a year so I’ve got to do what I can with the tools I have and see where it takes me.

Honestly I’m no artist and only wanted to be able to do tribal work. 1 step at a time I guess.

and there’s nothing wrong with being a scratcher, I’m using fruit not people so that name will suit me just fine lol.

      thanks none the less

gary gray… international school of body art. video series, option to go see them personally for abit more… think it was around the 1500 dollar mark. I’ve been dealing with them for a year as I was a self taught piercer but learned things from the pros I met over time. Showed these guys some of my work and got myself a “certificate to hang on the wall” as everyone wants to see it who comes to see me.

I’m 31 and getting an apprenticeship is probably going to be really hard as I’m not an artist. I’m a tracer but not all good artists make good tattooists and not all good tattooists are good artists but I believe the elite of the industry are the best of both worlds and I’m not really striving for that. I just wanted to do some great work with basic designs (tribal) and some good pre-made flash.

I just got my dual rotary machine kit in by these guys. Have yet to check it all out in detail but I was wondering if the motor can be replaced on it’s own. Was very happy to be buying from a dealer in BC however.

I love that fact that machines can be customized… really look forward to learning more.
