you could be not going deep enough or going too deep depending on the the way your machine is set up. if it blows out past the lines chances are your machine is hitting too hard. if the lines look solid and heal spotted then its probably not hitting hard enough or running too slow.

your ink is probably crap! maybe u should add a little more green soap to your washing solution.

yeah thats weird but i have a friend that has a tattoo done by a professional machine but he must have used shitty quality ink because it’s an eagle and he said it used to be brown, but its now green. plus the lines look like shit.

i use a cheap $52 digital eikon copy from China. Seems to work fine for me and helps out a lot with tuning. the downfall is u can only hook in one clip-cord. but they now make a copy of the one u guys are talking about looking like a guitar effects pedal. I think it was like around $65 and works exactly like the eikon model. How long will it last?. well that i don’t know but the one i have, i have had for about 8 months and it still works like it did the day i bought it. On the other i work on a masonry crew and don’t get to do tons of tattoos. But for the buck u can’t beat it.

your machine is probably set up like a traditional style shader. smooth powder grays and transitions in grays are easier to acheive with a faster running machine. with a slow running machine your hand movement is also going to have to be slower. if its too fast you get the “hit and miss” you’re talking about. I assume this is what u are talking about since u said u had a traditional old school style.

man i have seen some of these things. i used to use homemade machines when i very first began.I built several. not knowing and not being able to find proper education of the art is the main cause of this. if artist want to horde their knowledge of tattooing thats fine i guess???, but they should at least set people on the right path as far as cleanliness goes. Cleanliness is the very first foremost important aspect of tattooing. If people see shitty ass tattoos with scabs all over them and puss running out chances are their not gonna come to u for ink. This could also be part of the aftercare. the tattoo was not covered immediately after and came in contact with bacteria and germs causing infection to set up in the tattoo. U have to keep them clean. not cleaning them with wash cloths. I soak my bandage with cold water so that any dried plasma or blood is not stuck to the bandage.(paper towel and medical tape). Remove the bandage. Apply more cold water and a small amount of antibacterial soap then gently massage the area with your finger-tips removing any of the leftover plasma or blood. Pat dry with a clean paper towel and apply a thin layer of tattoo healing cream or A&D ointment. Apply 2-3 times a day until healed.

ur machine may not be tuned right or u could have a loose capacitor wire. this really isnt that big of a deal if its on a shader machine but could cause some problems such as faint lines or dotted lines if on a liner machine.

yeah u probably put it in too deep or too hard. i have used prizm ink a long time ago and i think its super thin. way too thin. or at least that batch was. and plus it smelled like half alcohol. dont buy ink from kaplan cause its half listerine. i use intenze it goes in smooth and heals nice and bright.

i have never used either of these machines but just because a tattoo machine comes from China does not mean its not a good machine. i have 2 American made machines and they didn’t run half as good as the ones from Chine until i bought some china made springs to put on em. the reason i bought new springs for them is because the big special “hand cut” ones that came on the machines broke after about a month of tattooing. knowing how to tune your machines to preform correctly takes practice and i am a firm believer that the artist makes the machine. i can take a $10 Chinese made machine and make it run and preform just as smooth as any super expensive machine. Don’t buy the hype. learn how to tune your machine by sitting around all day taking them apart and switching spring configurations, coils armature bars and so on. This is what works for me. every country makes crappy stuff. Not just China. btw im American.

No. Actually i would like to have this book. i just make my machines run faster or slower by changing the spring gauge configurations. i run my machines so that they bog down as soon as u hit the skin so that u can hang more needle out and not traumatize the skin. I run my shaders at about 85 to 90 cps and my liners at about 105 to 110 cps this way its not to fast so that you have to rush the tattoo and you can work the skin more without damaging it. I also like my machines to start running without a needle at as low volts as possible. Soft Soft Soft.

its good to still take the machine apart about once a month and clean it just like tubes and only autoclave the frame and and the hardware. not the coils. coils should wiped off with bleach water. you should clean everything down after each tattoo session, including your machines with bleach water. just spray it on a paper towel and wipe your machines really good getting in every tight spot. also wipe off your table, even though it has been wrapped with wrapping. clip-cord, power supply if you have it on your contaminated table.
